The smart homecare technology company has published its annual Year in Review and its latest State of Care Tech report, highlighting the impact technology has had in the homecare sector.

In 2024 alone, Birdie supported over 1,000 UK homecare providers to deliver 73 million hours of care—more than double the number in 2023.

As homecare providers near universal technology adoption, Birdie’s State of Technology report shows the shift from ‘first generation’ technology to ‘smart’ technology.

London, January 2025: Birdie, the smart homecare technology provider, has released its annual Year in Review report. In 2024, Birdie supported the delivery of over 60 million homecare visits, representing a 100% increase on 2023 and averaging more than 164,000 visits per day.

Birdie has also onboarded over 117,000 new care recipients to the Birdie platform, with its Family App now supporting over 120,000 family members by providing invaluable reassurance and visibility of their loved ones' care.

This report comes at a challenging time for social care, with new National Insurance increases set to put an additional strain on provider finances. Meanwhile, the government’s newly announced commission on social care is not due to report back until 2028, leaving the sector to find its own solutions.

However, research conducted by Birdie as part of its ‘State of Care Tech’ report shows that the homecare sector is doing just that: innovating new solutions to mounting challenges. A core part of this is the move from ‘first generation’ care technology (focused on digitising analogue processes) to smart technology (focused on automating tasks and transforming data insights into action).

Birdie’s report has found that while first generation care technology is able to take homecare businesses from ‘paper to pixels’, the smart care tech found within Birdie proactively makes the business of caring easier, faster and safer. It leads to results such as over 50% time savings in overall operations and an average 40% increase in profit.

To further support the social care sector over a challenging year, Birdie launched 'Flock' in March 2024,  an online and offline community that connects care sector professionals to share experiences and learn from one another. Flock is now the fastest-growing community in social care, with over 2,000 members.

Birdie’s achievements and impact over the last year have recently been recognised in The Sunday Times 100 Tech 2025 list, with Birdie being listed as the 23rd fastest-growing tech company in the UK. In 2024, Birdie was ranked 21st within Deloitte’s EMEA Fast 500, and was selected to join Tech Nation’s Future Fifty 2024 cohort alongside an esteemed lineup of innovative businesses from across the UK.

Max Parmentier, CEO and Co-Founder of Birdie said, “2024 was a pivotal year for the Birdie team, helping our partners deliver a record-breaking number of homecare visits. Behind these statistics are thousands of carers and their clients, who have been heard, valued, and supported thanks to our technology - that’s something we’re all incredibly proud of at Birdie. We look forward to growing our impact in 2025, working with our partners to raise the bar for what technology can do to help the care sector thrive.”
